90年代半ばに活躍したfemaleトリオ'Brownstone'のメンバーNicci Gilbertソロ1stアルバム。元Brownstoneと知らずに聴いたとしても、圧倒的な歌唱力と雰囲気を感じると思います。あの頃と今の女性シンガーの歌声は不思議なくらい違いますよね。夏の蒸し暑い夜に聴くSummerは最高です。その他、Curtis Maｙfield/Tripping Out使ったCan't Forgetをはじめ、ギターの音色が夏らしいHint Of Love、Dave HollisterとのShell Neverなど、大人っぽい１枚ですが、これもまたメジャーではなく、2002年に一度お蔵入りになっていました。Brownstone / If You Love Meは私がR&Bを好きになったきっかけの曲でもあり、思い入れがあります♡

2001年リリース、Toni Braxton初のクリスマスアルバム。妹のTamarも参加している1曲目のHoliday Celebrateから良いです。他にBabyface, David Fosterとの共作This Time Next Yearなど、オリジナル曲が多いのですが、The Christmas Songや、Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmasなどのスタンダードなクリスマスソングも収録。1962年のVince Guarald/Christmas Time Is Hereもカバーしています。当時夫だったKeri Lewis, Daryl Simmonsらがプロデュ―ス。彼女の声はクリスマスに合いますよね♪

ここしばらく寝ておりました。。昔から体調が悪いと音楽が聴けなくなるので今日はもう復活して聴けてます。久々だとまたしみますね～♪　この方はたぶんものすごくマニアックで、正体不明です笑　（追記。マニアの友人いわく、どうやらアトランタの人でGのバックシンガーだったらしいです）たまたまiTunesで見つけたお気に入りで最初聴いたとき興奮しました笑　一応2000年ですが、内容は90年代ど真ん中。懐かしい感じさえする。Make Up Your Mind, All I Need, Drop it Down Low, Closeあたり好きです。

97～99年に活躍したUKのシンガー、ショーラアーマ。15歳の時に地下鉄のプラットホームで口ずさんで歌っていてスカウトされたというエピソードが印象的だった彼女。16歳でレコーディング契約しています。97年、18歳の時にリリースしたデビューアルバムMuch Loveが好きで当時よく聴いてました。シングルリリースされていた''You Might Need Some Body''はUKチャートで4位、ほぼ2か月もの間TOP40に残ったようです。99年には2ndアルバムShola Ama-In Returnをリリース。いい曲もありましたが2ndは1stに比べあまり印象に残らず、彼女もこれっきり消えてしまいました。90年代中盤は女性シンガーの全盛期でしたが、ちょうど彼女の2ndアルバムあたりが最後になって、R&Bシーンが変わっていってしまったので、時期も悪かったのでしょうね。それっきりもう活動はしていないと思っていましたが2002年にSupersonicというアルバムをリリースしています。こちらはメジャーレーベルとの契約が進まなかったようでデジタルのみです。
